Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is still a huge success in its own right, and Blizzard took notice of this. Following a successful BlizzCon 2010 show this weekend, an announcement of four new mods to the StarCraft 2 game has left both press and gamers more excited than ever for new content and gameplay. One of these is Blizzard DotA. Defense of the Ancients’ gameplay on Warcraft III is a multiplayer game and the StarCraft 2 version is no different. What’s changed is that its not limited to the StarCraft universe for its heroes, it also harnesses the popularity of Warcraft and Diablo to insert modern variations of their own heroes in a StarCraft settings. Hence the name Blizzard DotA, and not simply StarCraft 2: DotA. "Kind of like Super Smash Brothers, or Marvel vs. Capcom” as mentioned by one of the developers in a panel on BlizzCon 2010, this shows how exciting the new gameplay will be. Also, DOTA being the kind of game that it is, will have a farther out release date than the other mods. Hey, this is the whole freaking Blizzard Universe they’re talking about, they have to cram a whole universe of heroes and what-not into one modification and balance out stuff so you don’t get whipped in a game and suffer multiplayer humiliation. Blizzard will also keep DOTA up-to-date with added tweaks, bonuses and content, so keep posted. Blizzard has not announced any official StarCraft 2 DotA release date yet but it is expected be released in near future. Also, Valve is coming up with DotA 2 in 2011. Do you think that Blizzard DotA will be good enough to beat DotA2? Share your reviews via comments! Stay tuned on Dota-Utilities for the latest updates! | |
